The First Birthday, Happy one year Oliver!

Our sweet little munchkin just hit the 12 month marker and to celebrate Grandpa came and had cake with us!  Oliver was careful at first about the cake, but got to work on it when everyone stopped watching him.  We had a great day celebrating this very special little boy.

Just a little bit about the things he is doing, Ollie has 8 teeth he loves to climb, climb, climb, and is a super speed crawler.  He loves his mom and dad, brother and sister.  He doesn't have separation anxiety, but does require a minute or two to warm up to a new face. When people approach him for the first time he usually turns his face away from them, sometimes stretching his neck as far as it will go so as to avoid eye contact. This is funny, but short lived. I think he is being coy, because after only a few minutes he gives giant grins and even wraps his arms around others to give them hugs.  Ollie falls in the 10th percentile for weight and height but is growing just fine. He breastfeeds, and though it is like nursing a Parana, he is so darn sweet in the rare seconds that he holds still, that I don't mind.  He is always trying to keep up with the big kids, who often play with him and do whatever it takes to make him laugh.  Everyone in the family circles round to make him laugh. He is happy and carefree and in general an easy going baby, he loves to snuggle but is also fine to explore and play by himself.  He absolutely loves to play in water, he doesn't care if it comes in the form of a toilet, dishwasher, cup, or bathtub---but if there is a splashing opportunity he is all for it.  He is not yet sleeping through the night, still waking on average between 3-5 times a night.  We could not be more in love him, he brings so much happiness into our home.  Happy Birthday Ollie O. We love you!

Here is his day in pictures, there are so many that it will feel like you were there!

He was tentative about his cake...at first :)

but then he got a taste of the fun.

And...he's down! Not a single tear, just back up and running.
